Political and family correspondence of Tomlinson Fort (1787-1859) of Milledgeville, banker, physician, and Democratic U.S. representative, and his family. The collection consists chiefly of political correspondence of the 1820s and 1830s and papers of Fort's wife, Martha, after his death, including letters from her sons serving in the 1st and 9th Georgia regiments in the Confederate army in Virginia. Also included are a few papers dealing with Georgia volunteers in Florida during the War of 1812.
